Regular paver maintenance such as washing and sealing are essential to the life of your
pavers. It is recommended to have your pavers washed and re-sealed every 3-5 years. In doing so it improves the functionality, safety and overall appearance of your pavers.
Why Have Your Patio Pavers Restored?
Pavers that are regularly and properly washed and sealed are less likely to shift or settle over time, helping to maintain a level and stable surface. It also helps to prevent weeds from growing through. Waiting too long to have this done can establish weed roots underneath your pavers. Once that happens, it is incredibly difficult to keep them from coming back.
Why have patio pavers sealed?
Sealant for your pavers is an invisible barrier on your that repels water, oil and anything that may fall or be dropped onto your pavers. It helps to protect your pavers from the harmful uv rays of the sun as well as the rain. It comes in a natural look as well as a “wet” look.
How long does the restoration process take?
The entire process of paver restoration can take 2-3 days. The first day is power wash day, when we’ll remove any mold and algae build up, as well as the old sand between the joints. Then we allow sufficient time for the entire area to dry out.
Day 2 is when we return to sweep in the new polymeric sand. Once the sand is properly swept into the joints, and no sand is remaining on the surface of the pavers, we will water the area down to harden the sand, which locks the pavers in place.
Then, if it dries in time that day, we can apply the sealer. Otherwise, we will return for a third day to properly seal everything to make it watertight.
